The Region’s Oldest Running Event!
The first York White Rose Run was held in 1977 and it has been run on the streets of York City for 47 years. This family-friendly race has drawn as many as 800+ runners and has been known to attract a field of elite runners from local and regional areas, including Olympic Games participants from eleven different countries.
The York Road Runners Club, established in 1976, manages, organizes, and directs the York White Rose Run. This race is put on by runners for runners and is geared to participants of **all abilities and experience levels. The VIRTUAL race is anywhere/anytime between October 1 and October 31, 2026. You can run anywhere/anytime during the time period, including course maps from previous years. Just run/walk five miles. Once you finish your virtual race, you can upload your results on this site.
And you can be a VOLUNTEER. With the race running through the city, we need many volunteers, and all volunteers will receive a race t-shirt exactly like the runners’ shirts, along with a good feeling that you are helping a good cause.
Our Charity
The York White Rose Run is proud to support Bell Socialization Services – a York-based nonprofit organization that brings positive change to the greater York/Hanover area by offering housing and empowering living supports to more than 2,400 people served annually through their programs. Proceeds from the LIVE and VIRTUAL events are a wonderful way to support our local non-profit organizations. Runners may donate when they register. In previous events, runners directly donated close to $1000, and the York Road Runners Club board voted to add all of the income minus race expenses to our charity for a total donation of $10,000. Please consider making an additional contribution to aid in Bell Socialization's Mission - to provide an environment of support and empowerment where people can improve their quality of living.

York White Rose Run 5 Miler LIVE Race
Registration Periods for the LIVE EVENT: Today through October 21, 2026 Regular pricing = $40.00 October 22, 2026 to October 31, 2026 (from 6:30AM - 7:45AM) Late entry pricing = $45.00 You can register for the LIVE, or the VIRTUAL, or register for each of the events (**you must register separately for each event if you wish to do both**). Packet Pickup: TBD There will be race-day packet pickup. Additional details to follow closer to race day. RACE SHIRTS Race shirts for 2026 will be included in registration. Male and female styles and sizing. Water Station: The water station will be located in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Runners will pass by at ~1.5 miles and ~3.5 mile mark. Post-Race Party at the venue. Refreshments will be provided. AWARDS We will have a brief presentation of the top five male and female awards, the top male and female masters. Age group awards may be picked up at a designated table. PRIZE MONEY: Top five male and female finishers will receive $250, $200, $150, $100, & $50, respectively. MASTER AWARDS: The top male and female finishers 40 and over will receive $75; the second will receive $50. If a master winner is in the top 5 overall, he/she wins both cash awards. York White Rose Run VOLUNTEER
Volunteering is rewarding and fun. There are various types of volunteer jobs, such as: Course Monitor Course Monitor Sweep Water Station Packet Pickup Team Race Venue Most volunteer jobs are on race day only, generally from 6:00 am through the end of the race. You must be 18 or over to be a volunteer for any of the tasks. RACE SHIRTS Race shirts will be available gratis to race-day volunteers as our thank you. During volunteer registration, select male or female styling and your size. Shirts guaranteed with registration up through 10/01/2026. After that there is limited availability. Register early! On race morning you will meet with your volunteer captain who will have last minute instructions and your race shirt, which is our thank you for volunteering. Thanks for volunteering. Closer to the event you will be contacted with important information. Remember, the York White Rose Run will happen rain, snow, or shine. If you volunteer, we are counting on you!!
