About the Event
Join us for a morning of races, a farmer’s market, music and so much fun! This is not your ordinary race. Racehorses have been giving their all on the Cumberland Fairground track for 155 years. Imagine the finish you’ll have tapping into their spirited, courageous and determined energy! We are getting creative with details to bring the maximum joy and impact to this event run entirely by volunteers and supporting some incredible local nonprofits!

Race Categories: Elite Mile, Adult mile (18+), Youth mile (5-17), Kids 200 Meter Gallop (for little ones), Open 5k & Virtual participation
Join fellow runners on August 30, 2026 for the Fairgrounds 5k, Mile & Market. It's a fantastic 1.6K, 0.8K, 5K featuring a flat and fast course in Cumberland Center.

Blazing Fast Elite Mile
Suggested time standards: Women: 5:45 or under Men: 4:45 or under 2 laps on the horse track! Please Note: Sanctioned as the USATF Maine Mile Championship. Current members youth-, masters have an opportunity to earn additional hardware in addition to our competitive race prizes.
Open Mile (18 +) - Designed For Runners
2 lap run on the horse track! Please Note: Sanctioned as the USATF Maine Mile Championship. Current members youth-, masters have an opportunity to earn additional hardware in addition to our competitive race prizes.
Youth Mile (5-17)
2 laps on the horse track! Please Note: Sanctioned as the USATF Maine Mile Championship. Current members youth-, masters have an opportunity to earn additional hardware in addition to our competitive race prizes.
Kids 200 meter gallop
200 meter gallop in front of the grandstand!
Open 5k
Race or walk around the fairgrounds and finish on the horse track! Open to youth and adults!
