Frozen Rails 5K & 10K
About this race
Join us for the 10th Annual Frozen Rails 5K & 10K in Midway, KY on Thursday, January 1, 2027 at 2pm. Kick off the new year with a healthy start at this run/walk event through the historic town of Midway. Our races will start/finish at Walter Bradley Park with our Race Headquarters at Northside Elementary School.
Commemorative long-sleeved T-shirt, Chip Timing by RaceRise, Overall & Age Group awards, Berserker Brew Coffee & hot cocoa, DJ, and a "Best Finish Line Photo" Contest. We will also have an untimed 1-mile fun run/walk and kids' 1K.
Partial proceeds will benefit the Midway Ministerial Association. The Midway Ministerial Association is a collaborative effort involving 7 Midway area churches (Midway Christian Church, Midway Baptist Church, Midway Presbyterian Church, St. Matthew’s AME Church, Midway United Methodist Church, Historic Second Christian Church, and Pilgrim Baptist Church) who provide support and funding for those in need in their community.
We are pleased to have Berserker Brew Coffee join us for the 2025 Frozen Rails. They will be serving coffee and hot chocolate to help keep you warm!
PACKET PICKUP OPTIONS
Wednesday, 12/30/26 from 12noon-3:00pm at J&H Running Company (197 Moore Drive in Lexington)
Thursday, 12/31/26 from 12noon-2:00pm at Midway Christian Church
Friday, 1/1/27 (Race Day) from 12:30-1:45pm at the Northside Elementary School gymnasium
* Pickup for friends & family is encouraged. No credentials, paperwork or ID necessary. All local runners are encouraged to pick up Wednesday or Thursday.
VIRTUAL RUNNER/WALKER OPPORTUNITY If you're not able to join us in person but still wish to support our cause, you can sign up as a Virtual Runner/Walker, and we'll mail your shirt and bib. Then (if you want) you can do your own Frozen Rails 5K or 10K on your own timeline in your own hometown. The cost of this option is $30.
CANNED GOOD DRIVE Bring canned or non-perishable goods to either packet pickup or the race, and we'll see that they get distributed to those in need through the Midway Food Pantry. Thanks for your support!
BEST FINISH LINE PHOTO CONTEST We'll select one lucky winner of our "Best Finish Line Photo" to win a free registration to a future RaceRise race, so get ready for that finish line pic!

Running
5K Run/Walk
Competitive, timed 5K run that is also open to walkers. Strollers and dogs on leashes permitted. Overall & AG awards presented. Participants will receive a commemorative long-sleeved T-shirt.
10K Run
Competitive, timed 10K run. Dogs on leashes permitted. Overall & AG awards presented. No walkers please. We encourage walkers to do the 5K race. Participants will receive a commemorative long-sleeved T-shirt.
1 Mile Fun Run/Walk
An untimed fun run/walk with no prizes or awards. Registrants receive a commemorative long-sleeved race T-shirt.
Little Rails 1K Kids' Run
An untimed kids' run to kick off 2027. All kids receive a kid's medal for participating.
Virtual Runner/Walker
An opportunity to support our cause without being at the race in person. If you sign up as a Virtual Runner/Walker, we'll mail your commemorative race T-shirt.
Volunteer
We couldn't do races without volunteers. If you aren't running or walking, consider volunteering for a 12:30-4pm shift to help us orchestrate the race. Those who volunteer will earn a FREE RACE REGISTRATION to a future RaceRise race of similar value.
