About this race
The Herrinfesta Road Races has a long history of families and friends coming together on Memorial Day to have fun, to suffer in the heat for a few miles. If you have never ran it before then you should come join us for a really fun time. With one of the fastest courses around, runners can come to Herrin and shoot for a new PR. This is a family friendly event with a few race options. The 10k run, the 5K walk, the Park Avenue Mile, and the kids mile. Ambitious runners can even sign up for both the 10k and the mile.
Join fellow runners on May 27, 2019 for the HerrinFesta Road Races. It's a fantastic 10K, 5K, 1.6K featuring a flat and fast course in Herrin.

Running
10k Run
10k START TIME 7:30 AM Banterra Bank This race is chip timed and the course will have a timing mat and clock at the 5k split. You will be able to see your 5k spits on your results. The course for this race has you starting and finishing on Herrin’s Park Avenue. This is a flat and fast course and only has four right turns on it. The race starts in front of Banterra Bank on South Park Ave. As you head North on Park Ave. the course drops about 30 feet over the 1.75 miles to the first turn on East Diaz St. A couple hundred yards later you will make your next turn onto 13th street. This is a 2.75 mile straight away that takes you to your next right turn onto East Railroad St. that you will be on for just a minute as you take the last right turn onto Park Avenue at approximately 4.8 miles. The straight away to the finish is mostly a gradual downhill with a slight bump as you go over the tracks with a 1/3 of a mile to go finishing at City Hall.
RRCA State Championship Park Avenue Mile
Park Avenue Mile START TIME 9:20 AM South Side Lumber. The Park Avenue Mile has been awarded the 2019 RRCA Illinois One Mile Championship. This is a great course to run a fast mile. Straight Down Park Avenue with a gradual downhill finish!! There will be a shuttle bus this year to take runners from the Finish Line area to the start of this race. Bus will leave for start area at 9:00 am.
Youth Fun Run
Youth Fun Run START TIME 9:23 AM South Side Lumber. The Fun Run will start 3 minutes after the Competitive Mile. The fun run is the same course as the Park Avenue Mile. The Fun Run at Herrinfesta was the first race for many local runners and continues to be a tradition. For just $5, the fun runners will get a shirt, snacks and drinks at the finish line, and be presented with a trophy!!
10k Run & Park Avenue Mile
*It is the runner's responsibility to make the start of the Park Avenue Mile at 9:20am. A shuttle will be leaving the finish line area at 9am sharp to take participants to the start area of the Park Avenue Mile.
5k Walk & Park Avenue Mile
*It is the walker's responsibility to make the start of the Park Avenue Mile at 9:20am. A shuttle will be leaving the finish line area at 9am sharp to take participants to the start area of the Park Avenue Mile.
Walking
5k Walk
5k noncompetitive walk START TIME 7:45 AM City Hall. This is a good opportunity to join in on the race atmosphere. The course for the 5k is the last half of the 10k route. Walkers will have 3 aid stations on the route that will have Gatorade, Water, and Ice Cold rags. Each walker will get a custom finishers medal!
