Orrc Turkey Trot at The Zoo
About this race
The ORRC Turkey Trot at the Oregon Zoo is a multi-generational family event. Runners and walkers of all abilities love the 5K, untimed out-and-back course. The event starts at The Oregon Zoo by the Forestry Center and the Max station, then goes out toward the International Rose Garden, and finishes inside The Oregon Zoo at the Elephant Plaza. The Tot Trot (children 0- 4 years old) and the Gobble Gallop (for children between 5 and 10 years old) events follow the 5K at the Elephant plaza inside the zoo.
Every entrant in the 5K and kids events receive an awesome beanie hat and chocolate turkey. Event shirts are an optional purchase, but the deadline to request a shirt is November 1st.
PLEASE NOTE: The event is capped for non-ORRC members at 2,200 participants! The deadline to register is Thursday, November 19, 2026, and there is no day of race registration. Register early to ensure your entry!
Start Line Note: The last start is at 7:39 (for slower walkers, and families with strollers).
THERE IS NO LATE START! Plan to be at the Zoo NO LATER than 7:00am to have time to park, pick up your bibs, go to the bathroom, etc. before the start. If you arrive late, you might not be able to complete the entire course before it closes.
Approximately $25,000 of registration fees benefit The Oregon Zoo.

'Rolling starts' between 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM at SW Knights Blvd startline between Zoo parking lot and Western Forestry Center. Course is between Oregon Zoo and International Rose Garden, finishing inside the zoo at Elephant Plaza. Registration is available through 8:15 am Thanksgiving morning.
Youth - Turkey TROT - 4 Mile Event
'Rolling starts' between 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM at SW Knights Blvd startline between Zoo parking lot and Western Forestry Center. Course is between Oregon Zoo and International Rose Garden, finishing inside the zoo at Elephant Plaza. T-shirts to every pre-registered youth up to 11 for youth running/walking 4 Mile. November 17 is guarantee cutoff date. Please note, no ORRC member discount is available for youth rates or multi-person (family) rate. Registration is available through 8:15am Thanksgiving morning.
Tot Trot (Diaper Dash (1/8 M) & Tot Trot (1/4 M) at Zoo Elephant Plaza
One adult as well as one child 's zoo admission is included in this.purchase. Tot Trot ( 5 to 11 years old) and Diaper Dash (up to 4 years of age) starts at The Oregon Zoo's Elephant Plaza. No ORRC member discount is available for youth rates or multi-person (family) rate. T-shirts are optional for Tot Trot and Diaper Dash runner/walker. November 17 is the size guarantee cutoff date. Additional zoo admission tickets can be purchased at "Additional Ticket" option. Zoo is officially closed except for those who have purchased ORRC Turkey Trot bibs. Registration is available through Thanksgiving morning.
Additional Ticket - non runner/walker event access into the Oregon Zoo
This fee covers the zoo's admission fee should other family member/friend wish to attend the in-zoo activities In the separate Tot Trot and Diaper Dash registration, one (1) adult plus the child's zoo admission fee is included. A second parent not particating in the 4 mile event may wish to purchase a Oregon Zoo admission bib either online when registering the child or on Thanksgiving Day inside Cascade Grill, to the right of the Main Gate. Zoo offices are closed. Registration is available through 9:00am Thanksgiving morning.
