Pleasant Valley 5K Run/Walk, Aquathlon Challenge, and Dog Swim
About this race
Come out for summer fun at the Pleasant Valley Pool. Enjoy a refreshing pool swim and run with our Swim/5K Aquathlon or skip the water and stay dry with a 5K fun run! In the afternoon, we'll once again be holding our dog swim, when the pool will be only for a dogs only swim time!
Proceeds directly support the Pleasant Valley Pool in Chantilly! We've also partnered up with two great non-profit charity partners which you can also donate to. The local Western Fairfax Christian Ministries Food Pantry, which was formed in 1987 by members of 12 Chantilly and Centreville churches, WFCM provides food and financial support to reduce hunger and the risk of homelessness among residents of western Fairfax County. Our second charity partner is the Major Lucas Legacy Foundation. The Major Lucas Gruenther Legacy Foundation was founded in 2015 to bestow scholarships to Americans for the advancement of educational goals and self development thereby strengthening and benefiting the community at large through individual enhancement.
Aquathlon Swim/5K includes:
- An awesome event shirt
- A refreshing swim in the Pleasant Valley Pool (125m snake swim) followed by a scenic 5K fun run through the Cub Run neighborhood and bike trails
- Post event water and recovery snacks
- Online result submission (you submit your own finish time, we will be performing best effort timing as well)

5K Run/Walk
The scenic 5K course winds through the streets of the quiet Cub Run Neighborhood. After the neighborhood, the course heads out on the Flat Lick Stream Valley/Cub Run nature trail that is filled with peaceful forest views. Finally, you’ll head back into serenity of the Cub Run nature trail and loop back to the Pleasant Valley Pool to finish. The 5K course is best described as “rolling” with a few moderate hills. The course is paved. There are no time limits on the course. Walkers and runners are equally welcome at this event! Each participant will receive a Race Shirt. All proceeds from this all-volunteer event will go towards the Pleasant Valley Recreation Association for capital improvements on the pool.
Virtual 5K
Run Anywhere in the World! Support the Pleasant Valley Pool by participating in the PV 5K Virtual Run. Run 5K at a location of your choosing, anywhere in the world and text or email in your results! All virtual runners will receive a Race Shirt! You will receive your shirt approximately up to two weeks after the event. Your virtual run can take place on a day of your choosing. Encourage your friends to register and run with you! If you are interested in organizing a group at your location with 6 or more runners, we’d love to hear from you. (And we just might have a special thank you gift for you as well!) Please email us at info@pvaquathlon5k.com for more info. All proceeds from this all-volunteer event will go towards the Pleasant Valley Recreation Association for capital improvements on the pool.
Dog Swim
The dogs make a splash! We've had the neighborhood dogs go for a swim at the end of every pool season, but now we're opening the event to dogs from all over! This is NOT a swim event for the human owners/families though, as we will not have lifeguards present.
Swimrun
Aquathlon - Swim/5K Run
Let's get wild and combine swimming with running! Seed yourself based on your swim speed at registration, and begin the event with a refreshing swim in the Pleasant Valley Pool. You will have do a snake swim and transition to your running gear. The scenic 5K course winds through the streets of the quiet Pleasant Valley neighborhood.
