Race4Warriors 5K, 10K & Half Marathon Challenges!
About this race
Come join us in this historic event along the scenic coastline of Delaware, our First State, to support our Wounded Warriors and Homeless Veterans. The event is OPEN TO ALL! Our vision is to bring our military and civilian communities together to build stronger relationships. The race will encompass trails on the beautiful Cape Henlopen State Park and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. All races start and finish at the same location.
ALL THREE RACES ARE USATF CERTIFIED
Beginning at the American Legion, Post 17, Lewes. Participants will travel through Cape Henlopen State Park and the historic Fort Miles. The event is divided into a 5k, 10K and Half Marathon Challenges. Participants are able to choose to compete in a Run, March (race-walk) and Heavy March (Trail race with 15lb. pack).
Packet pickup will be done on Friday, May 8th, at American Legion Post 17, Lewes, DE (113 American Legion Road), from 5pm – 8pm. Between 6pm-8pm the Post will have a LIVE BAND! Food and beverages available the entire time. Come out, get your packet, hang out, and meet some our staff and fellow participants! DAY OF PICKUP! You can also do packet pick up the day of the event starting at 7:00am near the starting line. Opening Ceremonies are at 8:00am. The races will launch one after the other. The time is determined by the race timers (RACES2RUN). The 10k and 5K might launch earlier then listed. The Half Marathon will launch at 8:15am, 10K start at 8:40am, and 5k starts at 9:00am. PLEASE BE IN PLACE AT 8:00am.

The event has three major components: Competition, Education, and Celebration. The race through the state parks and beaches of Delaware is a competition for all levels and will honor the men and women who have sacrificed for our freedoms in the Middle East. The finish line will encompass the other components. With the assistance of volunteers, a Middle East Historical Exhibit will be available for everyone to enjoy. This walk-through history will help connect our communities with the military members attending the event. Lastly, there will be a “Celebration of Warriors” with local vendors will be available from 8:30am – 3pm. Live bands will start at 10:00am and play until 3pm. Stay, enjoy the celebration, and connect with people, military and civilian, from across the United State of America.
Everyone pre-registered by May 3, 2026 will be guaranteed an event t-shirt at check-in. Everyone racing will receive a race medallion when they cross the finish line and will leave with the knowledge of participating in an event which truly supports and honors our Veterans! Our women and men deployed to the Middle East do not stop due to the weather; so, rain or shine (not to including weather which makes the environment unsafe to be outside), come out and enjoy our race and festivities. The 5k Run will race 2.2 miles on a harden surface through the historic Fort Miles Barracks before turning onto the beach to honor our Middle East Veterans who work, walk, and run in the desert sands every day. After a half mile of beach, you will head towards the finish line. As you contemplate the challenge of racing in the sand, remember the deployed women and men working in the sand every day. Your sacrifice will honor their service. This will be a race you will never forget! A full view of the course and rules may be found at Race4Warriors.org. Half Marathon Run Challenge
The Half Marathon Challenge will race 5.25 miles through the state park, on hardened surfaces and crushed gravel (trails), before entering the beach environment. Participants will race on 2.6 miles of beach sand before leaving the beach environment and racing back to the finish line for 5.25 miles. Additionally, the race traverses through the historic Fort Miles Barracks. As you contemplate the challenge of racing in the sand, remember the deployed women and men running and working in the sand every day. Your sacrifice will honor their service. 5K Run (Wheelchair/Stroller Accessible)
The 5k Run will race on a harden surface through the historic Fort Miles Barracks. This will be a race you will never forget! This event is reserved for individuals in a wheelchair or pushing a stroller with a child secured inside. A full view of the course and rules may be found at Race4Warriors.org. Half Marathon Race Walk Challenge
The Half Marathon Challenge will race 5.25 miles through the state park, on hardened surfaces and crushed gravel (trails), before entering the beach environment. Participants will race on 2.7 miles of beach sand before leaving the beach environment and racing back to the finish line for 5.25 miles. Additionally, the racers will traverse through the historic Fort Miles Barracks. This event is completed on the honor system to support our veterans. Participants are expected to "Race-Walk" only (No jogging). Race-Walk means at least one foot must be on the ground at all times. As you contemplate the challenge of racing in the sand, remember the deployed women and men walking and working in the sand every day. Your sacrifice will honor their service. 5k Heavy March Challenge
The 5k Heavy March (Trail Race), with a 15 lbs pack, will race 2.2 miles on a harden surface through the historic Fort Miles Barracks before turning onto the beach to honor our Middle East Veterans who work, walk, and run in the desert sands every day. After a half mile of beach, you will head towards the finish line. Your bag will be weighted at the completion of the challenge and the contents dropped off. Your bag weight cannot include anything that can be picked up on the course. Please go to RACE4WARRIORS.org for the rules associated with this event. Half Marathon Heavy March Challenge
The Half Marathon Challenge March includes each participant carrying a 15lbs. pack (not provided) of nonperishable foods to be donated to Homeless Veteran Shelters at the conclusion of the race (Go to Race4Warriors.org (Rules) for more details). During this trail race, participants can Race-Walk or Run. Participants will race 5.25 miles through the state park, on hardened surfaces and crushed gravel (trails), before entering the beach environment. Participants will race on 2.7 miles of beach sand before leaving the beach environment and racing back to the finish line for 5.25 miles. Additionally, the racers will traverse through the historic Fort Miles Barracks. Your bag will be weighted at the completion of the challenge and the contents dropped off.
