About this race

Run Kalamazoo is excited to present Move Through Summer, a relaxed and social 13-week camp to support you in your movement goals.

This program is geared towards those training for a half marathon, 10K, 5K or just wanting to stay active.  We have everything for runners and walkers!

We welcome those training for a full marathon to sign up, however, we only accommodate courses and support up to the half marathon distances/times.  This means you can start with us and finish your final miles independently or start on your own and join us for you final miles.  If you need help thinking about how to best mix your marathon training with our programs, we are here to help.

Move Through Summer is a program that balances the fun and flexibility needed for summer while offering quality support.  We offer full payment for all 13 weeks or a drop-in option at $10 per Saturday.

This is a different experience (yet still awesome) from winter Run Camp so please read below thoroughly!

13-week Move Through Summer:

  • Starts: Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 7am
  • Meets:  Saturdays at 7am and Tuesdays on the Track at 5:30pm
    • We will rotate between locations on Saturday mornings that have bathrooms but will start outside.
    • We DO NOT meet inside a location to start.
  • Group Organization:
    • Participants will NOT be organized into pace groups like winter run camp.  Rather, participants will show up each week and be guided by "pace setters" who are volunteer leads who help you find your pace and people training your pace.  Groups will organically form as time goes on but will also be fluid as people have vacations and as drop-ins join.
    • Pace setters will distribute themselves at different paces so there is someone from Run Kalamazoo out on the course.
    • Home base will be staffed by a certified running and fitness coach to provide training guidance and, if needed, to refer you to further expertise in the community.
    • Drop-ins are welcome each Saturday for $10 per session.
  • Course Support
    • The course will be supported and home base staff will be present each week for the duration of the longest distance planned for that week at a 17 minute per mile pace.  For example, if the half marathon calls for a 10 mile training run, home base will be staffed and the course supported for 170 minutes (about 2 hours and 50 minutes).  The schedule online will specify how long the home base person will be present for that week.
    • Water stops will be provided about every two miles, however, these are not staffed.  They will have water, water cups, basic first aid kit, and some nutrition.
    • The staff at home base also serve as SAG and will pick anyone up who may not be able to finish training that day for whatever reason.
    • Pace setters will distribute themselves at different paces and distances to be present on the course for additional support.
  • Training Schedules Provided and Supported:
    • Half Marathon
    • 10K
    • 5K
    • Get Your Move On (for beginner 5K and 10K)
      • This training program is designed for individuals who have never trained for distance; would like to walk or work up to running to maintain their health in the company of others.
      • Participants who are starting in this program will be prepared to walk a 5K or a 10K comfortably by the end of training.  There are schedules for each!
    • PLEASE NOTE: Training schedules created by a certified run coach will be provided to participants.  Schedules can be modified as needed by certified run coaches on an individual basis.
