About this race
Come join us for the 30K (18.6 miles), 7 mile, or 5K (3.1 miles) run on the beautiful, mostly shaded, wooded trail surrounding Salem Lake. Enjoy a well-organized event that is a great tune up for your fall marathon. The course has been listed as one of America's best running trails and part of the proceeds benefit the Salem Lake Trail System. Celebrate your run with post race food and beer from Radar Brewing!
Registration closes at 11:59PM Wednesday before the race. Registration available at Friday Packet Pick-Up only.

Starting at the trail head in the lower gravel parking lot, the 30K runners go around the lake counterclockwise for about 6.5 miles, then down the greenway next to Salem Creek to the turnaround point at about 8.5 miles, and return to the finish by the same route. *NOTE: Construction near U.S. 52 has blocked the greenway near WSSU; so (as with the 2014 race) we’ve shortened the turnaround point on the greenway and, to make up for the lost distance, we’ve added an out and back section on the off-shoot trail, near the mile 6 sign, that leads to New Greensboro Road. The off-shoot trail section is about .5 mile out and .5 mile back (the turnaround point is about 30 yards past the yellow metal gate). Runners will take the off-shoot trail twice: First, at about mile 5.9, they will turn right off the main trail, complete the out and back on the off shoot trail, then continue straight on the main trail, cross the short wooden bridge, continue around the lake and down to the greenway and the turnaround point. Second, the runners will hit the off-shoot trail again on their return trip, just past the short wooden bridge, at about mile 11.7. They will again go out and back on this trail, then turn left on the main trail and continue on to the finish.
