37-Mile Challenge
Walk, run, ride or roll 37 miles in the month of September. Honestly, you can move your body in whatever way you wish, anywhere in the country. The goal is to bring awareness and resources to childhood cancer. Kids with cancer need us to make some noise and ignite hope. Let’s make it fun and impactful. Why 37? Sam’s favorite number was 37 because he claimed it was the “forgotten number” (yes, he was a quirky kid). SDF uses the forgotten number because we want to draw attention to the forgotten cancers, the ones that don’t get as much research attention.
Sam Day 5K and 37-Mile Challenge
Complete your 37-Mile Challenge for the month and end it with a 5K on Sunday, September 25th! The Sam Day 5K will be at Sunset High School at 8:30am. It is an official 5K course with chip timing provided by Portland Running Company. Originally launched in 2018, the Sam Day 5K is a high-energy community event on the west end of Portland, Oregon. After a two-year COVID break, we’re bringing it back! Run, walk, or roll starting on the Sunset High School track and then make your way through Sam Day’s neighborhood while friendly residents cheer you on. You can’t participate in this event without a little bit of feel-good awesomeness when you cross the finish line.
Kids Run
The Kids Run is for ages 12 and under and will take place at Sunset High School at 9am on Sunday, September 25th. Kids will enjoy a fun 1K course through the Sunset High School track and field.
