About this race

The Shylee Smiles Foundation is proud to present the 2nd Annual Smiles for Miles Charity 10K, 5K and Fun Run to raise funding and awareness for families of the Shoals area battling cancer. We look forward to seeing you on race day!

Aid Stations

There will be three aid and recovery stations, one aid station will be available at the START/FINISH line area and two on the course. The START/FINISH line are aid station will have hydration, first aid, snacks, and electrolytes. On Course aid stations will have water and first aid.

What is Shylee Smiles? Shylee Smiles is a non-profit organization founded to honor the legacy of Shylee Bevis, a beloved member of our community. Inspired by her love, kindness, and compassion, our mission at Shylee Smiles is to advocate, educate, and provide opportunities for families with loved ones fighting cancer. We are dedicated to honoring Shylee Bevis' legacy by showing the same love, kindness, and compassion that she showed the world!

When is the event? Labor Day - Monday, September 7th, 2026 - 7:00 am CT 10K RACE START

Where is the race? All races will start and finishes at St. Florian Park in Florence, Alabama

Where do I get my packet? Packet Pickup will be available race day morning starting at 6:00 AM

Are t-shirts included with registration? The first 50 10K/5K registered runners will receive a shirt, after that they are available for purchase

Are there medals? Yes! Prizes and awards will be handed out for the 10K and 5K. The top overall female and male runners, and top overall Masters (40+) and GrandMasters (60+) divisions. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals are awarded to the top three female and male finishers in each of the 10-year age groups.

What are the age groups? 0-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

I’d like to participate. Can I just walk? Absolutely! We always have people who want to walk, so you will not be alone! We recommend our walkers stick to the 5K course

I‘m part of a group that’s running together. Can I pick up everyone’s bib? Yes! All you’ll need is their full name and everyone will be ready to Smile for Miles on Race Day!

Is there parking? This location has FREE nearby parking

Can my dog come? Yes! Well-socialized and leashed dogs are welcome at the back of the pack

Are strollers welcomed? Yes, strollers are welcome at the back of the pack. If you are running for a competitive time, please inform us on race day morning so we can add an offset to your start time to account for the distance to the START line

Are bikes, hoverboards, scooters, skateboards, push bikes, unicycles or wagons allowed on course? We’re sorry, but only runners, joggers, walkers, baby strollers/joggers, restrained pets and wheelchairs are allowed

Are the 10K and 5K courses timed and USATF-certified? Yes! All distance races will be RFID Chip Timed using USA Track & Field Certificatied Courses: #TBA

Do the courses have hills? There are some small-medium hills on the course <12% grade 

Where do race proceeds go? This is a charity event, with proceeds for the benefit of the Shylee Smiles Foundation and their supported causes

What if I can't be there in person, can I still get involved? Yes! You can donate to the Shylee Smiles Foundation through our Race Participant Registration or through the Shylee Smiles Donation Only registration option
