4th Annual Cloud Run – Ashburn, VA

The Cloud Run celebrates the data center industry in the DMV region and helps build connections between data center professionals, jobseekers, students, and members of our local community. While held during the warmer months, the Cloud Run commemorates International Data Center Day in March, which recognizes the critical infrastructure that powers our digital world. The Cloud Run is where the data center industry and our local community come together as one.

This fun annual event brings together IT professionals, neighbors, charities, students, families, and fitness enthusiasts to learn more about the global-leading industry that powers our everyday digital lives.

Did you know that every educational, entertainment, and professional digital interaction has a physical location for storage? The “cloud” actually lives inside data centers. Our industry works around the clock to keep pace with global demand while striving for 99.999% uptime reliability – hence the 4.999K race!

The 7x24 Exchange DC Chapter is made up of the professionals who design, construct, maintain, and operate these facilities so you can enjoy every aspect of your connected life.

On Saturday, May 30, 2026, the 7x24 Exchange DC Chapter will host the 4th Annual Cloud Run in Ashburn, Virginia, in the heart of Data Center Alley.

Registration Fees:

5K (Adults)
$25 through April 29
$30 through Race Day

5K (Kids – Age 14 & Under)
$15 through April 29
$20 through Race Day

1 Mile Fun Run
$10 through April 29
$15 through Race Day

Online registration will remain open through Race Day (May 30) until 8:00 AM.

Post-Race Community Meetup

Following the race, participants and community members are invited to gather at Lost Rhino Brewing Company for a casual post-race networking event.
This is a great opportunity for attendees to:
·       Meet data center professionals
·       Learn more about careers in the industry
·       Ask questions about how data centers power our digital world
·       Connect with neighbors and members of the local tech community
·       Drinks and light snacks will be provided for runners and attendees as we celebrate the race and continue building connections between the industry and the community.

Race Day Schedule
6:30 AM – Packet Pickup Opens
8:30 AM – 1 Mile Fun Run Start
9:00 AM – 5K Race Start

Course
The looped road race will start and finish at Quantum Park, where there is ample on-site parking available.
Participants can expect:
·       A water stop approximately halfway through the course
·       Porta-potties available at the start and finish
·       Plenty of energy and fun along the route

SWAG & Awards
All registered runners will receive a commemorative race T-shirt included with their registration.

The 5K will be a chip-timed race, with awards presented to: Top 3 Overall Male & Female Finishers, Top 3 Finishers by Age Group Male & Female in the following age groups: 9 & Under, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & Over.

Team Participation Awards will also be given to the companies and organizations with the highest number of registered participants

Did You Know?
The data center industry plays a major role in supporting the Virginia economy and the Loudoun County community:
·       For every job inside a Virginia data center, 4.1 additional jobs are supported across the state economy.
·       Every $1 generated by data centers and spent in Loudoun County produces $13.20 in tax revenue.
·       The industry contributes $73 million annually toward education funding in Loudoun County.
·       Data centers are directly and indirectly responsible for generating $174 million in state revenue and over $1 billion in local tax revenue in          Virginia.
·       According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average private-sector wage in the data center industry increased 120% over the              past 20 years, growing from $61,117 to $134,308.
·       The 7x24 Exchange DC Chapter has donated approximately $70,000 to local charities including Mobile Hope, Women Giving Back, Gary Sinise Foundation, Loudoun Education Foundation, JK Community Farms, and Boulder Crest.
·       The chapter has also awarded $50,000 in scholarships to 16 students pursuing careers related to the industry.
