Tofurky Trot
About this race
Chase compassion Thanksgiving morning with a vegan and family friendly 5k!
Presented by Northwest Veg, The Tofurky Trot is back with a new scenic and accessible course for 2026! Starting and finishing at OMSI in SE Portland, the trot will start off crossing the Tilikum Bridge, then head north up the west side waterfront path. After turning around, trotters will first head south, then cross Hawthorne Bridge before closing the loop by trotting south on the Eastbank Esplanade back to OMSI.
What to Expect in 2026:
- All Are Welcome: Kids, seniors, strollers, and leashed dogs are encouraged to join the fun. It’s not about speed — it’s about celebrating compassion together.
- Costume Contest: Get festive! Dress up for the Tofurky-themed costume contest and show off your holiday spirit.
- Meet the Cause: Representatives from local farm animal sanctuaries — the event’s beneficiaries will be present to connect with participants and share their mission.
- Boka Marimba will be warming trotters up with their high energy African style marimba music from 8-8:45am
- Enjoy post trot snacks after finishing
WHY TROT?
The Tofurky Trot is more than just a fun run — it's a meaningful way to kick-off the holiday with heart. Your registration fee helps support Northwest VEG outreach and local farm animal sanctuaries, providing food, shelter, and care for rescued animals.
This annual event promotes the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle while building a warm and welcoming community of compassionate individuals.
TROT DAY SCHEDULE:
- 7:30–8:30 AM: Trot check-in and same-day registration. Enjoy free beverages as you wait to kick off the Trot.
- 8:00 AM: Boka Marimba takes the stage to get trotters warm and loosened up
- 9:00 AM: Trot kicks off
- Post-Trot: Enjoy free vegan bites.
PARKING AND TRANSIT:
- Both the MAX Orange Line and Portland Streetcar have stops at OMSI/Water Ave adjacent to the starting area
- Parking is available in OMSI lots for $5. Payment is through the Passport Parking app or text to pay via signage in the lot
FARM SANCTUARIES TO BENEFIT FROM THE TOFURKY TROT
Over the past 3 years, the Tofurky Trot raised more than $40,000 to benefit local farm sanctuaries. We hope to raise as much to benefit farm sanctuaries in 2026. Sanctuaries that will benefit in 2026 coming soon!
