Uab Veterans Day 5k
About this race
Join us on Saturday, November 14, 2026, for the 4th Annual UAB Veterans Day 5K presented by Viva Health at Railroad Park — a meaningful community event dedicated to honoring those who have served and supporting the next generation of military-connected students.
Since launching in 2023, this event has raised over $33,000 and brought together more than 1,800 participants and 200 volunteers in support of UAB veteran and dependent students. Thanks to this community's generosity, we've already distributed over $9,000 in direct relief to students in need — covering essentials like housing, books, and emergency expenses.
This year, we're continuing our mission with even greater purpose.
Whether you're a runner, walker, rucker, stroller, or wheelchair racer — all are welcome. Lace up to celebrate the 108th anniversary of Armistice Day, and join UAB Veteran Services in continuing a proud tradition that began right here in Birmingham in 1947.
Together, let's show our veterans they are seen, valued, and supported — not just on Veterans Day, but every day.

5K- General
Open to all ages and fitness levels — run, walk, ruck, or roll. Chip-timed 5K with race bib included. Every 5K participant receives a race shirt and finisher medal. Stroller and wheelchair friendly.
5K- Military/Veteran
Open to all ages and fitness levels — run, walk, ruck, or roll. Chip-timed 5K with race bib included. Every 5K participant receives a race shirt and finisher medal. Stroller and wheelchair friendly.
5K- Student/ Youth
Open to college students and competitive youth 13 and under — run, walk, ruck, or roll. Chip-timed 5K with race bib included. Every participant receives a race shirt and finisher medal. Stroller and wheelchair friendly.
5K Virtual
Run your own race, anywhere in the world — on your schedule. Complete the 5K route on your own and submit your results online. Every virtual participant receives a race shirt and finisher medal, mailed directly to you. Join us in honoring those who served, no matter where you are.
5K- Kids (Free)
Free for children 12 and under — run or walk the full 5K course. A registered parent or guardian must accompany all kids throughout the race. No shirt or medal included, but both are available for purchase on race day. Strollers welcome.
1 Mile Fun Run
A relaxed, untimed 1-mile route open to all ages — run or walk at your own pace. No bib or race shirt included, but a shirt may be added at checkout. Parents and guardians are welcome to walk alongside registered children.
