About this race
Join us on Saturday, November 14, 2026, for the 4th Annual UAB Veterans Day 5K presented by Viva Health at Railroad Park — a meaningful community event dedicated to honoring those who have served and supporting the next generation of military-connected students.
Since launching in 2023, this event has raised over $33,000 and brought together more than 1,800 participants and 200 volunteers in support of UAB veteran and dependent students. Thanks to this community's generosity, we've already distributed over $9,000 in direct relief to students in need — covering essentials like housing, books, and emergency expenses.
This year, we're continuing our mission with even greater purpose.
Whether you're a runner, walker, rucker, stroller, or wheelchair racer — all are welcome. Lace up to celebrate the 108th anniversary of Armistice Day, and join UAB Veteran Services in continuing a proud tradition that began right here in Birmingham in 1947.
Together, let's show our veterans they are seen, valued, and supported — not just on Veterans Day, but every day.

- The 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk will not be a timed event and no race numbers will be provided. - PLEASE NOTE: A T-SHIRT IS OPTIONAL & NOT INCLUDED IN THE ADULT 1-MILE FUN RUN/WALK REGISTRATION. THERE IS AN OPTION TO PURCHASE AN ADULT-SIZED T-SHIRT FOR THE ADULT 1-MILE FUN RUN/WALK REGISTRATION BEFORE YOU CHECKOUT. - Parents and guardians are encouraged to walk with children who are registered for the walk. - Strollers are welcome! Girls on the Run Running Buddy
If you are running with a girl in the Girls on the Run program then you are in the right spot! Sign up to run with your girl here. Running buddies should be 18+ and should plan to run with your girl for the entire race. GOTR running buddies will get a UAB Veterans Day Race t-shirt and UAB Veterans Day 5k medal at the finish line (while supplies last). Girls will be wearing their golden GOTR t-shirt and will receive a GOTR medal at the finish line. *YOUR GIRL IS ALREADY REGISTERED FOR THE 5K* This event is a professionally timed 5K with chipped bibs and race numbers provided. Your bib and t-shirt will be with your girl's GOTR team the morning of the race at Railroad Park. Stroller and wheelchair friendly.
5K Run/Walk-Kids (Free)
This free event is for children 12 and under and covers the full 5K course. Kids may run or walk the course and must be accompanied by a registered parent or guardian at all times. Free youth registrations include race participation and a finisher medal! Race shirts are notincluded with free entries but may be purchased on race day. (while supplies last). Strollers are welcome, and we encourage families to participate in the fun together!
