The YMCA of Greater Spartanburg proudly unleashes the 45th Annual Hair of the Dog 10K, 5-Mile & 1-Mile Fun Run—the ultimate New Year's Day tradition!
Join the pack on January 1st, 2027 at the Thomas E. Hannah Family YMCA and kick off the new year the right way. Lace up with your furry co-pilot (leashed dogs welcome!) and sprint, jog, or stroll your way into 2027 with unstoppable energy. Whether you're chasing a PR or just chasing your tail, let's start the year strong—together!
Now in its 45th year, this beloved Spartanburg tradition brings runners, walkers, and four-legged friends together across three distances—the 10K, the 5K, and the family-friendly 1-Mile Dash—all starting and finishing on Ribault Street. Bring the whole family, shake off the holidays, and make your first miles of the year count.

Enjoy a hearty, hot breakfast served immediately after the event inside the Thomas E. Hannah Family YMCA. Ticket is valid only on January 1st—perfect for refueling with family, friends, and fellow runners after shaking off the New Year’s Eve festivities. Breakfast included for all registered runners; this ticket is for spectators and supporters!!
