Bayshore Long Course 70.3

LONG COURSE 70.3 TRIATHLON START: 7 AM DISTANCE: SWIM 2200yd BIKE 56mi RUN 13.1mi TRANSITION AREA: Bayshore & Ocean Blvd. ADDITIONAL INFO: There will be 2 transition areas. Less than 500 yards from each other. T1 will be directly in front of the swim finish where you rack your bike and will be able to lay our your bike gear. You will be given 2 transition bags. One bag will be for all your swim gear after you complete the swim (all items must be in this bag including a wetsuit). One bag will have all your run gear in it for T2 - in the lot adjacent to the bike out. A volunteer will hand you this upon bike completion and will rack your bike for you. Please put all your bike gear in this bag before leaving for the run leg. The third bag will be your morning clothes bag. You may tie this bag around your larger triathlon bag if you like. We will be storing this bag for you till the end of the race. COURSE: (please see website for detailed maps) SWIM = 1.2mile open water Flat calm bay 2 loops - counterclockwise around buoys Must exit the water after the first loop and run around the cone. Call out ace # after lap 1 & 2 Wetsuit legal ​Outbound you are swimming on the outside of the buoy line ​All buoys will be on your left shoulder Turn around at the checkered buoy and return to the inside of the buoy line. Run to T1 is less than 200yards ​BIKE = 56miles (out &back) NOT A CLOSED COURSE Aid Station at the turnaround point before 10 FWY Elevation Gain 789ft The road is not closed - open to the public 3 right turns on the way out and 2 left turns to enter the San Gabriel Bike Path About 5 Lights outbound on streets before you hit the bike path (shouldn’t be an issue) 2 of them will be making a right turn onto bike lane. ​ The path is relatively flat with some dips under overpasses. Watch out for other cyclists. Right before mile 6ish, you will make a left turn to cross a white. Do not go straight. Volunteer and race arrows will direct you to turn left. On the return - after you have hit the aid station at mile 28 & loop around the cone, head back on the path. Will cross a bridge again. When the path ends with less than 3 miles to go… Right turn onto Marina Drive Right turn on Marine Drive again Left turn onto 2nd street *this is a light head straight down 2nd street to Bayshore Ave. Hug Bayshore Ave till it dead ends into our T2 which will be across the street from T1 REMINDER NOT A CLOSED COURSE and ONLY 1 AID STATION BE PREPARED NUTRITION WISE **** If you wish to have a special needs bag at at bike aid station please bring it to packet pick up and give it to Erin or one of the volunteers at check-in. RUN = 13.3miles Flat - 3 loops Aid Station about every mile Aid station #1 at run start Aid station #2 at the pier Aid station #3 at the turn around Junipero Hill You will pass by the aid stations multiple times.
