42-Mile Road Tour
42-mile riders should depart by 8:30. The 42-mile cycling course travels west from Crystal Mountain and then north through orchards and farms. The Village of Elberta will host the first rest stop at Penfold Park. The ride continues on the scenic Betsie Valley Trail which follows the Betsie River and then progresses along the shore of Crystal Lake. The second food stop awaits in Beulah at the Betsie Valley Trailhead Building. From Beulah the route crosses US 31 and gently climbs Narrow Gauge Road to Homestead Road. The final, fairly flat 10 miles returns to Crystal Mountain where it will be time to kick back and party! The route provides approximately 1,300 feet of gentle climb. Of course, enjoy the 1,300 feet of thrilling descent! The course will be marked at critical turns; however, three GPS apps will be available (under construction) for download on the website, 1) Ride with GPS, 2) Strava, and 3) Map My Ride. Also, the route will be patrolled by cyclist support vehicles in the event of an emergency or a need to return to Crystal Mountain. Please Note: Part of this route is on the Betsie Valley Trail. While Class 1 and Class 3 e-bikes are permitted, Class 2 throttle assist e-bikes are prohibited.
62-Mile Road Tour
62- mile riders should depart by 8:00. The 62-mile road cycling course will take you from Crystal Mountain south through Benzie County. There will be some rolling hills to attack, but also some compelling descents. The first food stop is at 20 miles in the Village of Elberta at Penfold Park. From there the route goes through Frankfort and continues on scenic and historic M22. This wide shoulder road is a popular cycling route which traverses along Crystal Lake and then eventually through the Sleeping Bear National Park. The second food stop is at the Platte Township Building at 42 miles. From there you will have a forest and farm cycling experience including Fowler Road to Valley Road. This will take you south to the village of Honor where you will cross US31 and the Platte River. The climb on Pioneer Road will take you to a relatively flat terrain, down Pioneer Road to Crystal Mountain Resort. The route has approximately 2000 feet of climb, and more importantly, 2000 feet of descent. The course will be marked at critical turns; however, three GPS apps will be available (under construction) for download on the website, 1) Ride with GPS, 2) Strava, and 3) Map My Ride. Also, the route will be patrolled by cyclist support vehicles in the event of an emergency or a need to return to Crystal Mountain. Please Note: Part of this route is on the Betsie Valley Trail. 28-Mile Road Tour
28-mile riders should depart by 9:00. The 28-mile course will take you from Crystal Mountain Resort into Benzie County north through forest and farm areas. You will then travel west along Homestead Road to the village of Beulah where at 13.7 miles you will have your food stop at Betsie Valley Trailhead building. After cycling through Beulah, you will cross US 31 and head up Narrow Gauge Road to Marshall and Homestead Roads. After that, the route repeats down Pioneer Road back to Crystal Mountain Resort. The course will be marked at critical turns; however, three GPS apps will be available (under construction) for download on the website, 1) Ride with GPS, 2) Strava, and 3) Map My Ride.
