New Glarus Woods Trail Run
About this race
Join us Saturday, August 15 for the 7th annual New Glarus Wood Trail Run! We are part of the Savanna Trail Run Series. Proceeds from this event go to the Friends of New Glarus Woods State Park. We aim to host a top notch trail run that highlights our park. Stick around after the race for lunch, awards and other activities!
Parking is at New Glarus High School. Then walk, jog or take the shuttle bus to the start area in the park. Please see our website for more details on the shuttle and bag drop.
Note: No race day registration. Registration fee increases to $65 July 1, 2025

Ready to test your limits? The New Glarus Woods Trail Run brings a highly anticipated 16K, 8K, 5K, 1.6K to New Glarus on August 17, 2024. Expect a fantastic route right in the heart of Wisconsin.

Trail running
16k Trail Run
The course start/finish is in the day-use area and enters the woods at the Basswood Trail before descending to the Spur trail and downward to the prairie on the Bison Trail. The course climbs up above the prairie using a former farm road and continues on wide forested trails to complete 8 kilometers. The 8k runners finish at the start line after completing one loop. The 16k runners run through the start/finish line to start their second lap. Runners pass the water station twice on each lap of the course. The 16k and 8k races are open to runners 14 and up. The top overall M/F finishers in each race will receive awards, as will the top M/F participants in the following age groups: 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. Think you have a good sense of pace? For the 16k runners, we will present a Consistency Award for the runner with the most even pace throughout the race.
8k Trail Run

5k Trail Run
The 5k starts and ends in the same location as the 8k and 10k routes. The park trails aren't flat and neither is this route! This will be a fun challenge for any age group. Walk or run, it's all for a great cause!
Kids 1 mile Trail Run -- FREE
1 Mile Fun Run on the NEW section of the mountain bike trail is free for kids this year! Come check it out! Untimed!
