About this race
What a great way to start any 4th of July by supporting northern Wisconsin area veterans or veteran organizations AND getting outside for a walk or run! This event really checks the boxes for an outdoor 5K run or 1-mile fun run/walk in the north woods. Join us for this morning's adventure. So, get let's gather with your friends and family! Have some fun! Get your smile on! Revel in gratitude!
Events take place at the MECCA trail system in Mercer, Wisconsin.
Join fellow runners on July 4, 2021 for the Run For A Vet. It's a fantastic 5K, 1.6K featuring a flat and fast course in Mercer.

Trail running
5K Run (In Person)
The 5K race is a mass start and takes place on a dirt road and trail. The trail has minor topography change and one heart-pumping hill. Awards for the 5K will be given to - Top Male / Female - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Male / Female Age Groups <=9, 10-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+ (for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place). Race entry rates for Children (10 and younger) is applied during check out. T-shirts or hoodies must be ordered from Race Merchandise tab and are not included as part of the race swag. T-shirts and hoodies must be ordered by June 20. Race times will be posted as soon as possible on the Performance Timing LLC website (performancetiming.com) Awards or medals will be given about 8:45 a.m. Pre-ordered T-shirt or hoodies will be given when you pick up your bib. The race course may be relocated if the trail is deemed unfit by the race course director. COVID guidelines may tighten and the Run for a Vet 5K race may need to implement changes with little notice. We appreciate everyone's understanding if this occurs.
Running
1 Mile Fun Walk (In Person)
This is a 1-mile fun run/walk ideal for any age and great to participate in with family and friends. This fun run/walk starts on pavement and quickly moves into a relatively flat dirt road and trail. Race entry rates for Children (10 and younger) is applied during check out. In general, the fun run/walk participants start immediately after the 5K race start. T-shirts or hoodies must be ordered from Race Merchandise tab and are not included as part of the race swag. Pre-ordered T-shirts or hoodies will be received when you pick up your bib. The deadline to order T-shirts or hoodies is June 20. The race course may be relocated if the trail is deemed unfit by the race course director. COVID guidelines may tighten and the Run for a Vet 1 mile fun run/walk may need to implement changes with little notice. We appreciate everyone's understanding if this occurs.
Virtual Challenge
This Virtual Challenge allows you to challenge yourself to complete a 5 K or 1 mile fun run/walk where you want AND contribute to the Run for a Vet race charity. Simply, sign up and complete the 5K run or 1-mile fun run/walk from June 15 to July 4. We will send you (via mail) your bag of swag contents on the Monday following the 4th of July. Virtual challengers are not eligible to receive race medals from the in-person timed event.
