About this race
What a great way to start any 4th of July by supporting northern Wisconsin area veterans or veteran organizations AND getting outside for a walk or run! This event really checks the boxes for an outdoor 5K run or 1-mile fun run/walk in the north woods. Join us for this morning's adventure. So, get let's gather with your friends and family! Have some fun! Get your smile on! Revel in gratitude!
Events take place at the MECCA trail system in Mercer, Wisconsin.
Join fellow runners on July 4, 2022 for the Run For A Vet. It's a fantastic 5K, 1.6K featuring a flat and fast course in Mercer.

Trail running
5K Run (In Person)
The 5K race is a mass start and takes place on a dirt road and trail. The trail has minor topography change and one heart-pumping hill. Awards are given to - Top Male / Female - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Male / Female Age Groups <=9, 10-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. Race entry rate for Children (10 and younger) is applied during check out. 16th Annual T-shirts can be ordered from Race Merchandise tab and are not included as part of the race swag. T-SHIRT ORDER DEADLINE is MONDAY, JUNE 20. A Registration Form is available for download on the Schedule tab if you prefer to register by mail. Race times will be posted as soon as possible on the Performance Timing LLC website (performancetiming.com) and will be posted on this website after the race. Awards or medals will be given about 8:45 a.m. The racecourse may be relocated if the trail is deemed unfit by the racecourse director.
Running
1 Mile Fun Walk (In Person)
The 1-mile fun run/walk is ideal for any age. This is a great event to participate with family and friends. The event starts on pavement and quickly moves to a relatively flat dirt trail. Race entry rate for Children (10 and younger) is applied during check out. The fun run/walk participants start immediately after the 5K race start. T-shirts can be ordered from Race Merchandise tab and are not included as part of the race swag. Pre-ordered T-shirts will be received when you pick up your bib. T-SHIRT ORDER DEADLINE IS MONDAY, JUNE 20. A Registration Form is available for download on the Schedule tab if you prefer to register by mail. The racecourse may be relocated if the trail is deemed unfit by the racecourse director.
Virtual Challenge
This Virtual Challenge allows you to challenge yourself to complete a 5 K or 1 mile fun run/walk where you want AND contribute to the Run for a Vet race charity. Simply, sign up and complete the 5K run or 1-mile fun run/walk from June 15 to July 4. A Registration Form is available for download on the Schedule tab if you prefer to register by mail. We will send you (via mail) your bag of swag contents on the Monday following the 4th of July. Virtual challengers are not eligible to receive race medals from the in-person timed event.
