The YMCA of Greater Spartanburg proudly unleashes the 45th Annual Hair of the Dog 10K, 5-Mile & 1-Mile Fun Run—the ultimate New Year's Day tradition!
Join the pack on January 1st, 2027 at the Thomas E. Hannah Family YMCA and kick off the new year the right way. Lace up with your furry co-pilot (leashed dogs welcome!) and sprint, jog, or stroll your way into 2027 with unstoppable energy. Whether you're chasing a PR or just chasing your tail, let's start the year strong—together!
Now in its 45th year, this beloved Spartanburg tradition brings runners, walkers, and four-legged friends together across three distances—the 10K, the 5K, and the family-friendly 1-Mile Dash—all starting and finishing on Ribault Street. Bring the whole family, shake off the holidays, and make your first miles of the year count.

5K & 10K Race Timing by Upstate Race Series!
Join fellow runners on January 1, 2021 for the Ymca Hair of the Dog Run. It's a fantastic 16.1K, 8K, 1.6K, Breakfast only featuring a flat and fast course in Spartanburg.

10 Mile Run
The scenic 10-miler rolls through the most historic neighborhoods in Spartanburg and has been a tradition for over 30 years. Registration includes T-shirt and breakfast after the event. Gather in the Rob Chapman Youth Development Center in the upper parking lot at the Thomas E. Hannah Family YMCA at 8:45 am on race day. Run starts on Otis Blvd. (across Pine Street from the YMCA) at 9:00 am.
5 Mile Run
The 5 mile course follows the 10 mile course and then turns back to the YMCA. Registration includes T-shirt and breakfast after the event. Gather in the Rob Chapman Youth Development Center in the upper parking lot at the Thomas E. Hannah Family YMCA at 8:45 am on race day. Run starts on Otis Blvd. (across Pine Street from the YMCA) at 9:00 am.
1 Mile Fun Run
This is the 1 mile fun run for kids and kids at heart on the Mary Black Rail Trail that runs by the YMCA. Registration includes T-shirt and breakfast after the event. Gather in the Rob Chapman Youth Development Center in the upper parking lot at the Thomas E. Hannah Family YMCA at 8:45 am on race day. Run starts on the Rail Trail at 9:00 am.

This buys one breakfast ticket for the day of January 1st Hair of the Dog Run at the Thomas E. Hannah Family YMCA.
